Description: For primitive decorating, this cobalt blue and white spongeware plate from the mid-1800s is an excellent choice. In round form it measures 9 ¼” in diameter with a blue sponged decoration on the front and undecorated back. What makes this plate interesting is a crude repair that appears to be in the making, prior to decorating. It accentuates the character of this of this one-of-a-kind piece of pottery with a timeless, primitive appearance.

Condition:  Previously owned - used.  Condition is consistent with age and use. Over 170 years old, considered good and free of cracks. Crazing with discoloration is noticeable on the backside of the plate. Nicks are present on the edge. Not recommended for food use.
