Large Antique Wooden Turned Maple Dough Mixing Bowl ca. 1840s-1890

Description:  Old wooden dough bowls are not only amazing, they can be super trendy.  This early maple utilitarian bowl from mid to late 1800s, turned on an early duplicator lathe features terrific character with chopping marks and warm maple tones. This one may have been for a variety of uses from dough making to chopping. It’s rather large measuring 16 to 17 inches with its slightly out-of-round shape, 3/4" wide rim and round, flat bottom. An early bowl with loads of personality.

Craftsman/Maker: Unknown.  No visible markings or signatures.

Origin Acquired:  Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Condition:  Previously owned - used.  Wear consistent with age and use. Sits nicely on flat surface. Chopping and mixing marks on interior sides and bottom. One 3 ½ inch hairline dry crack on rim extending down. Can be seen from interior although a challenge to see from exterior.
