Primitive Handcrafted and Decorated Wooden Checkerboard
Description: A form of the checkers game is known to date back to approximately 3000 BC. This original checkerboard most likely dating back to the 19th century with original paint and dry patina was stenciled drawn and painted with brick red squares and matching border. Now, lightweight and measures out of square, 14 ¾” x 15” x ½” this game board boasts much character. The back shows signs of burnt marks, small gauges and a pencil stencil as possibly an attempt for a Chinese checker game creation. Has a great primitive appearance and displays well.

Markings: Faint pencil signature in one checker block (as shown).
Condition: Previously owned - used. Condition is consistent with age and use. Still solid although lightweight with dry patina. 3 ½” scrape, gauge in front along with a darker discolor strip down center. One end is slightly bowed. Scattered rough edges with a ½” and 1” gauges in the back of wood along with two burnt marks and a more recent paint splatter.
