Description: During the Colonial times and later, many American households prepared meals over a wood fire. Utensils such as this were essential kitchen tools, used for serving, skimming, or transferring liquids while cooking over the fire. When not in use, they were often hung from a timber beam or hearth rack near the fireplace.
Measuring just under 19 inches long, this ladle features a handcrafted hammered brass bowl, wrought iron handle and a rat tail hook-end. Today, it displays as a unique piece of early metalwork or Colonial-inspired décor.
