Antique Handcrafted Wicker Woven Small Lidded Sewing Basket Braided Handle
Description: A small tightly woven carrying basket, possibly once used as a sewing basket. Wicker woven from flexible natural materials, this basket was handcrafted in a rectangular form with a fold-over hinged style lid and looped clasp closure, braided handle and trim. The bottom was made with a checkerboard weave using wider splints for stability. Areas of faded color can be seen which hints that some original dyed splints were woven into the body. A timeless unique small basket that can be used to store small treasures, sewing notions, miniatures or even displays nicely as a stand-alone collectible.

Condition: Used. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Considered good antique condition with a few broken weaves, slightly out-of-shape body form, somewhat flattened handle and aged patina. Faded color on weaves. Hinged lid appears to have been repaired in two out of 3 areas by using thread (as shown).
