Round Spice Box Set with 6 Original Stenciled Spice Tins ~ c. Late 1800's

Product Description:  Spice box sets like this one were commonly used in most kitchens in the mid to late 1800's.  This spice tin set is all original holding six spice containers.  It holds six 2 1/2” tall spice containers, each stenciled on the lid with the name of the spice.  The worn,exterior of the spice box, most likely once japanned with signs of early soldered seams, a top pull-ring and a tight-fitting front snap-latch that still works like a charm!  Even though the original nutmeg grinder is missing in the center chimney, this spice set is a fine, early collectible to own.

Spice names on lid:  Mace, Ginger, All Spice, Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmeg (not fully readable)

Condition:  Previously owned - used.  Condition is consistent with age.  Snap down latch works well and secures properly.  Missing original nutmeg grinder which inserts in top chimney.  Round box:  small dents and scratches.  Moderate to heavy patina.  Spice tins:  mostly surface scratches and patina. The lid on the “Cloves” tin cannot be opened, therefore the remnants of cloves are still contained and should not be used or consumed if lid is removed.  Wear on stenciled lettering.  Nutmeg is barely readable.
