Early Pennsylvania Hand Coiled Rye Straw Open Baskets Bowls, Graduated Set of 3

Description:  Early on, rye straw baskets like these were commonly seen in many homes and farmsteads used for a variety of household purposes.  This graduated matching set of 3, most likely from the Northeast Pennsylvania region, were hand coiled and woven from rye straw held by flexible oak strips.  Looking good with natural aged darkening, this set nests within each other in three sizes; 10”, 8”and 5 ½”. This set does have some age and darkening.  Can’t say enough how wonderful of a fit this set would be in a rustic home or cabin setting.

Condition: Previously owned - used.  Condition is consistent with age and use.  Great set.  Larger two baskets are in very good condition with natural age darkening.  The smallest of the 3 has some broken oak strips and loose straw although, still in fairly, strong condition.
