Product Description: This Ashcroft 300 psi Compressed Air Pressure Gauge was once used at the Bethlehem plant in South Bethlehem, PA. during the early 1900’s. Wonderful advertising of dial art work with the Bethlehem Steel name on a silver-tone plate is still displayed under glass. It is enclosed within an attractive brass casing. Grab this rare Americana historical memorabilia with great history from once one of the largest steel and shipbuilding companies in the world.
Bethlehem Steel, was once known as United States second large steel producer and largest shipbuilding company located in Bethlehem, PA. Once the backbone of the community, employing tens of thousands of people, they provided steel for structures constructed battleships, offshore oil rigs and freight rails and cars. Their roots go back further to around 1857, when it was originally Saucona Iron Company then Bethlehem Iron Company. Bethlehem Steel Company who was established in 1899, and then later Bethlehem Steel Corporation. It became the 2nd largest steel company until it was dissolved in 2003. Still today, some of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation factory remains are still in existence at the Bethlehem, PA original location.
