Antique English Biscuit Barrel Blue Floral on Ivory

Antique English Biscuit Barrel Blue Floral on Ivory c. 1800's

Regular price $75.00

Product Description:  English biscuit barrels date back to around the 18th century in England for serving biscuits with tea.  This charming biscuit barrel believed to be pre-1891 features blue floral and leafy motif with gold-tone highlights on an ivory background.  The applied surface is an interesting stone-like textured surface.  The lid, ring and bail handle appear to be made of silver-plate or EPNS material with and lovely incised floral and branch design on the lid.  On the bottom base is an early maker’s mark with a crown in blue and a reference 1686.  Although this biscuit barrel bears some light exterior wear, it’s a timeless piece different to its kind.
