Vintage BLUE DANUBE Porcelain Salt Box Wooden Lid Script Ribbon Banner Mark
Description: Inspired by the German Meissen Blue Onion pattern, this porcelain salt box in the “Blue Danube” pattern originating from the 1950s, is a popular 20th century dinnerware pattern. Featuring blue underglaze floral designs on a crisp white porcelain background and a wooden flip-up lid, it echoes the commonly seen salt boxes on kitchen walls or counters in the 17th and 18th centuries to keep salt dry. It bears the original “Blue Danube” script mark within a ribbon banner, dating this piece from the 1951-1976 era.
