Product Description: This mid-19th century set of two plates by John Wedgwood showcases the artistry of early English transferware. This pair with a subtle 12-sided rim features a purple transfer-print depicting a beautiful scene of flowering botanicals, castles, and mountains in the background with hand-applied polychrome details.
Includes:
(1) 7 3/8" Salad Plate – All-over visible crazing with glaze discoloration - yellowing. Some glaze scrapes, rubbing and crazing on rim. Nicks on footed base. Visible stilt marks present on the back of plate from the making.
(1) 6 1/8" Bread & Butter Plate – Light crazing is present. A few glaze pops and light roughness on rim. Whiter in appearance than salad plate. Subtle stilt marks are present on back edge from the making.
