Antique Large Wooden Woven Splint Gathering Basket Farmhouse Hearth Décor
Description: Infuse your space with vintage farmhouse charm using this authentic large double-handled gathering basket. Large baskets of this size and form were once used as bushel baskets for gathering vegetables from the field, storing wool or serving as a hardworking laundry basket. Hand-woven and wrapped with wooden oak splints, it features a double wood rim, double handles and a raised bottom interior, showcasing medium to dark appearance with warm, time-earned patina. Areas of charred wood, suggest this basket may have been used near a hearth to hold firewood or kindling. Authentic period aging are present, admired today as the honest wear of an early utility, storage basket.

Condition: Used. Condition commensurate with age and use. Useful, collectible and still functional. Handles are strong. Natural aged patina, splits, and a 12 inch section broken and missing wrapping on one side of double-wooden rim (as shown). Wrapping does not appear to be overly loose in that section. A 1” hole and broken weave in bottom of basket. Overall basket appears to be strong.
