Description: From the 19th century, this polychrome transferware rice bowl in the Zamara pattern was crafted by Francis Morley & Co. (FM&C) in Staffordshire, England,  who was known for their partnerships in exporting their wares to the American Market. This 3 ¾ inch tall bowl with a generous 6 ½ inch opening – made for Tyndale & Mitchell Co., a prestigious importer-retailer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was co-founded by an American Civil War hero Brigadier General Hector Tyndale and his brother-in-law E.P. Mitchell. This round footed bowl is crafted of earthenware with red transfer-printed stylized floral motifs and scrollwork, decorated with areas of blue, green and yellow. An essential addition for collectors of authentic period transferware with compelling history and provenance.

Condition: Previously owned – used. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Overall good condition – free of cracks or nicks. Light scratches around bottom belly of bowl. Black mark on rim (as shown). Small raised clay particle on interior base. Some roughness and/or glaze bumps in areas. Discoloration, rubbing-wear to base.
