Product Description:  This stoneware Snuff Jar with Lid from Lancaster, Pennsylvania represents a piece of American history relating to the tobacco industry. In cylindrical form with a flared collar, this vessel once was used to store tobacco. Standing 8 ¼ inches tall, it showcases black stenciled advertising on front; “DEMUTH’S CELEBRATED SNUFF ESTABLISHED 1770 LANCASTER, PA” with a glazed body and unglazed lid.

Condition:   Previously owned - used.  Condition is consistent with age and normal use. Considered Good Condition. Stenciling/advertising is clear with a few horizontal and vertical scratches (as shown). Two 1/2" - 3/4" areas at exterior flared collar which are appear to be hairline cracks at or near clay patches prior to glazing (as shown).  Lid is "unglazed" and is not known if original to jar. Please refer to photographs.
