Description: This handcrafted rectangular basket was designed to hold the long, elegant ladies dress gloves of the period. Masterfully handcrafted with natural materials, it features three sides of decorative dyed splint ribbons and intricate thin strips with braided sweetgrass in between - accented with porcupine curls and small loop handles. The bottom is crafted in a checkerboard weave with wider splints for stability. A unique masterpiece of Americana history-perfect for any basketry or textile collection.

Condition: Used. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Considered good vintage condition. Some color fading to bows. Woven spikes are all intact although one point on right side - still appears to be very strong. One hinged side of lid held on by a thin shaving is unraveled and separated from body. Other two shaving splints connecting the lid to body are intact.
