Product Description:  Speculaas cookies were very common in Belgium with the original tradition of baking and serving on the 5th or 6th day of December for the St Nicholas' day gathering.  Speculaas cookies are shaped in a wooden mold or plank.  This Dutch woman, hand carved from a thick piece of wood, was once used to make large Springerle or Speculaas biscuit cookies. What makes this a bit different are the wonderful two bread board style end caps, each attached with 4 large nails.  Since this mold has a split on 2 sides, it would be an ideal display piece for a kitchen, restaurant or store window.
