Primitive 19th Century Blue and White Round Spongeware Plate 9"
Description: For primitive decorating, this cobalt blue and white spongeware plate from the mid-1800s is an excellent choice. In round form it measures 9 ¼” in diameter with a blue sponged decoration on the front and undecorated back. What makes this plate interesting is a crude repair that appears to be in the making, prior to decorating. It accentuates the character of this of this one-of-a-kind piece of pottery with a timeless, primitive appearance.
