Primitive Bentwood Double Sided Dry Grain Measure 12 1/2" Country Farmhouse Décor
Description: One of the early tools of calculating volume is the wooden dry measure, for measuring dry ingredients such as grain, flour and seed. These measuring tools were often used in country-general stores and rural farms. This 12 1/2 inch tall bentwood dry measure features a double-side that was used for two different measurements. The 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch thick walls are held together with wire-form bands. These bands have loosened over the years with an attempt to repair. Although not in perfect condition, an attractive primitive piece for anyone who appreciates authentic, primitive country décor.

There is "no guarantee" they will not separate completely from the wooden staves. This is a common occurrence with vintage and antique dry measures secured with wire style bands, due to the shape of bands and shrinkage of wood. Early on, the exterior was likely preserved with a material such as linseed oil or shellac. Some wood chips and splits, moreso on one end of measure (as shown). Vertical engraved initials on body.
