Unusual Wood Carved Paper Knife, Mythical Figural Serpent Snake Head

Product Description:  Similar to letter openers but a bit different, paper knives were commonly used during the 19^th century to slit open uncut reading material, pages of books and cutting-down, slicing loose paper sheets.  Just a bit under 10” long, this fine, wood-carved paper knife with intricate detail is unlike most you may have seen.  The 5 3/8” flat, blunt blade features an elegant, smooth surface with an outstanding handle depicting the top body of a mythical snake with carved scales and two fangs.  For some, snakes can symbolize self-awareness, transformation, rebirth and healing.

Condition:  Previously owned – used.  Very good condition with minimal, light wear.  Fangs are in strong, excellent condition. Scales are in excellent condition with one small scuff mark near neck (as shown) and minimal light scratches on blade.
