Vintage Cobalt Blue and White Ceramic Salt Box, Windmill & Sailboat Scene, Germany

Product Description:   Early on, salt boxes of different styles were commonly found in kitchens, hung near the stove away from damp areas preventing it from becoming lumpy.  This glazed, salt box with a hinged, wooden lid features a nautical scene with a windmill and sailboat decorated in cobalt blue on a white ceramic surface.  Conveniently, this salt box can be placed on a counter-top or used as a wall-mount.

Condition:    Previously owned – used.  Very good condition.  No cracks. Decoration is vibrant and in good condition.  Normal light wear around hole and top.  Bottom edge base has a few chips and wear (as shown).  Hinges are a bit loose although functions as it should.  Lid may have been stained earlier on after piece was made.  Crazing on each side.
