Product Description: Bring authentic New England history into your home with this antique wooden dry measure crafted by E.B. Frye of Wilton, New Hampshire. Historically, this essential tool of agriculture and mercantile trade was used to measure dry goods such as grain, flour, seeds or other commodities in farms, general stores, mills or country markets. A wonderful addition for collector of Americana primitives, New England region antiques, or country store memorabilia.

  • Bentwood Construction: Single strip of wood, steamed, bent, and fastened with an overlapped nailed and/or riveted seam - Right to left. 
  • Added Structural Durability: Secured with a dark metal band on top and bottom. Remnants of two bands on bottom which were once in a criss-cross position used to secure the original construction of two-pieces of wood for the bottom base.
  • Capacity: Likely a 2-quart (not marked or no longer legible)
  • Maker Marks: Made by EB Frye Wilton, NH (worn impressed stamped mark - all in caps)

Condition: Used. Condition is consistent with age and use. Original surface with no repairs. Dark patina, scratches, blemishes, and missing rivets and/or nails in bottom metal strap. Two bands on bottom are broken which once joined two-pieces of wood. Still appears to be a strong base with minimal movement. Missing rivets or nails in bottom metal strap. Impressed Maker mark and origin is worn and in areas not totally legible.
