Primitive Hand Carved Wooden Sugar Mold Dovetailed Sliding Lid Box
Description: This exceptional and unique, hand-carved two-hole sugar mold is an original, one-of-a-kind piece. It’s a special one crafted with two carved conical shape molds which raw sugar cane syrup was once poured into, then hardened, forming a sugar cone shape. What’s unique is that this double mold is contained in a handcrafted, rectangular box with four dovetailed corners and a removable, slide-top lid. Small and medium size nails were also used on the box to attach the top overhangs for the lid and sides of the box to secure the mold in place. On the back end of the box, there is a hole where a knob may have once been that suggests it was crafted using a drawer from a piece of furniture.
