Antique Stick Spatter Octagonal Platter 13 3/8" Purple & Green Leaves
Description: Bring timeless appeal to your home with this 19th century Stick-Sponged Platter. Measuring 13 3/8 inches long it features an octagonal shape, hand-decorated using a stick-spatter technique with a cut-sponge. A combination of green & dark purple holly leaf designs were used - bordered by thin blue bands on a cream background. Despite showing its age from years of utilitarian use, this authentic piece captures the artistry and craftsmanship of 19th century stick sponge ware pottery. Once a cherished piece of tableware is now a decorative piece with timeless character and history.

Condition: Previously owned – used. Condition is commensurate with age and use. No chips, cracks or repairs. Yellowing and discoloration is present on front and back. The central surface area exhibits extensive glaze wear, rubbing, utensil marks, cuts and scratches from years of use. All-over crazing is present along with discoloration in many areas of front, back and rim. The back bears three spur marks in triangular form left behind during the making of this platter. Being sold for decorative purposes, no longer for food use.
