Description: This large, early culinary workpiece carries all the hallmarks of a true bakery bread board. Crafted from one piece of wood with a handle, it's fitted with two early sliding battens on one side. Each batten is held within a cut groove – a traditional method used to keep working boards flat and stable through years of heavy bakery use. The bottom edge is slightly tapered with honest wear suggesting it once helped move loaves of bread to and from the oven. With no hanging hole, it likely stood beside an open hearth fire. A charming rustic accent for farmhouse kitchens, wall décor, or hearth displays.
