Antique Ironstone Transferware Platter TYROL 15 3/4" John Wedgwood England
Description: This stunning mid-19th century Ironstone Platter exemplifies John Wedgwood’s master of polychrome transferware production. The Tyrol pattern combines purple transferware printing on white with hand-applied details in green, red and blue, depicting flowering botanicals, scenic castles, and mountains in the background and a glaze. In rectangular form with an octagonal edge, it measures 15 ¾ inches long, showcasing craftsmanship of early English ironstone. Although in good condition, some authentic period aging is present through all-over crazing and areas of natural discoloration that whisper of its storied past.

Condition: Previously owned - used. No cracks or chips. Art is clear and still vibrant. All-over crazing on front and back. Some glaze scratches is present although does not deter from the beauty. Surface and edges exhibit authentic period aging with areas of light discoloration early glaze pop, glaze skip and rubbing. Stilt marks in the form of a triangle is present on the back from the making of the pottery. Sold for decoration only – no longer for food use.
