19th Century Stoneware Merchant Crock 3 Quart CW Schaffer Grocer Kingston New York
Product Description: Charles W. Schaffer operated a grocery business in Kingston, New York during the mid to late 19th century. This 3 quart stoneware crock with interior and exterior glaze was once used in his store to hold everyday staples such as molasses, pickled goods or preserved meats. It bears the impressed merchant name and origin on the front. Even though the lid is missing and has a few chips, this merchant crock is a rare find and showcases an attractive appearance with natural aged patina.

Condition: Used. Rim is smooth with no chips. Early, large 1 inch chip to bottom edge of base. Tested - still holds liquid with no leaks. Two 1/4 inch chips to body (as shown). Wear with scratches to interior glaze.
