Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug 1 Gallon Applied Strap Handle
Description: A one-gallon salt glazed stoneware jug, hand-thrown on a potter's wheel with a single hand-applied strap handle. Standing 9 1/4 inches tall, this sturdy vessel displays a tannish-gray appearance with variations in the glaze that reflect its honest character and handcrafted nature. Above the rounded shoulder is an impressed tooled ring that lends subtle visual interest to the form. This jug bears an indistinct impressed marker's mark that has not been positively identified.

Condition: Used. Condition is commensurate with age and honest use. One 1/2 inch early chip to rim. One 1/4 inch chip to edge of base. Glaze imperfections, skips, runs, drips and areas of discoloration (as shown). Age darkening to base. There is a possibility the top was dipped in glaze a 2nd time - creating the darker appearance to top with drips.
