Description: A lovely 19th-century polychrome transferware soup bowl in the treasured “Feather” pattern by Wood & Challinor, Staffordshire, England. Measuring 10 ½ inches with a gently scalloped rim, this antique bowl showcases a graceful spray of green peacock feathers accented with hand-colored red and yellow flower heads. A charming example of Staffordshire polychrome transferware with a romantic palette typical of early Victorian tableware.

Condition: Used. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Considered very good. Minimal to no crazing. Triangular form stilt marks are visible on the back from the stacking and drying process of pottery. Glaze skip and small indent in back footed base which may be from a drying pin during the making. Back edge has a ½” line in the glaze which feels like it may be glazed over or just a glaze crack (as shown).
