Description: This mid-19th century Ironstone Polychrome Platter features the Tyrol pattern by John Wedgwood Staffordshire, England. Decorated with a purple transfer on white, it depicts flowers with scenic castles and mountains in the background, hand-applied or other means of transferred details in red, green and blue and glazed. In rectangular form with an octagonal edge, it measures 17 ¾ inches long, showcasing craftsmanship of early English ironstone. Its aged character is evident through all-over crazing and natural discoloration, adding depth and history to this collectible transferware platter.
